Alongside the epic Rocket Round Leicester art trail, there are 10 different themed weeks and a tankful of events and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
From 26th – 31st July, it’s Creative Week! Art is at the heart of the trail and throughout this week, we’re inviting you to explore an entire universe of art and crafts. Read more to find out how you can join the fun this summer.
Meet the artists
Get to know the artists behind the Rocket sculptures at our Trail Hub shop in Highcross shopping centre (upper mall) from Tuesday 27th July – Friday 30th July between 10am – 4pm. The following artists will be showcasing some of their other incredible work and will be on hand to talk to talk to trail-goers:
Tuesday: Helen Sibson (Birds of the City – St Margaret’s Church)
Wednesday: Julie Vernon (Stardust – Highcross St Peter’s Square)
Thursday: Lucy Hebden (Patch – Leicester College, Abbey Park campus)
Friday: Sam Grubb (Bogswamp – St Martin’s Square)
Artists will also be at their sculptures at different times throughout the week:
Monday: Helen Sibson from 1pm for one hour: Birds of the City – St Margaret’s Church, number 3 on the trail map
Wednesday: Julie Vernon from 4.30pm for one hour: Stardust – Highcross St Peter’s Square, number 15 on the trail map
Friday: Sam Grubb from 4.30pm for one hour: Bogswamp – St Martin’s Square, number 18 on the trail map
Junior Jet painting
Make a donation to LOROS Hospice and take part in a communal painting of a Junior Jet sculpture, displayed in the Trail Hub shop.
On Saturday 31st July – Sunday 1st August between 11am & 1pm, visit the Trail Hub shop and showcase your talents in our colouring competition. The winning artwork(s) will then by displayed on the Highcross beacons in St Peter’s Square!
Highcross’ Doodle Wall
Experience Highcross’ giant intergalactic Doodle Wall landing on Friday 30th – Saturday 31st July.
