This summer, LOROS Hospice is working with leading art event producers Wild in Art to bring Rocket Round Leicester to the city. A fleet of 40 giant Rocket sculptures, created by local and national artists, will guide people across the city for 10 weeks of adventure.
Local businesses have the unique opportunity to raise their profile by sponsoring a stellar Rocket sculpture as part of Leicester’s biggest ever public art event. LOROS Hospice have announced that there are now only a limited number of giant Rocket sculptures available for Sponsorship, with just 2 weeks left for local organisations to jump aboard.
Standing at almost 8 foot in height, the remaining sculptures have been transformed into incredible works of art; from Leicestershire inspired designs to intricate patterns, abstract art and magical creatures.
Whilst the designs are kept top secret until the trail is live, Rocket Round Leicester artist, Lucy Hebden reveals an insight into her design which is available for sponsorship, “Patch is inspired by decorative pattern, colour and Leicester’s historical links to the textile industry.
“The design is a patchwork of my own colourful textile designs from my studio Lucy Loves Design. It’s bright and detailed, to encourage trail-goers to take a closer look!”
Without giving too much away, local artist Sam Grubb also shares what inspired his design Bogswamp and what people can expect, “My design has transformed the Rocket sculpture into one of my monster characters, namely Bogswamp. You might recognise the character as I have previously painted these creatures on a large scale around Leicester’s city centre.
“The size of the Rocket meant I could give it a personality and incorporate my usual bright, bold colour palette too.
“I can’t wait to see Boggo out there in the summer sunshine!”
Alongside sponsoring a sculpture, organisations are invited to take part in audience engagement opportunities with star-quality packages tailored for business development. As well as brand visibility throughout the Rocket Round Leicester official app, additional perks include CSR benefits and city-wide visibility throughout summer.
The trail will revive the city following a challenging year and encourage the community to support local businesses. By sponsoring a Rocket, organisations are also directly supporting LOROS Hospice’s flagship fundraising event.
LOROS need to raise in excess of £6 million from voluntary income each year to continue their services. At the end of the trail, Sponsors can proudly watch their sculpture be auctioned to raise crucial funds for LOROS Hospice and allow them to continue to care for over 2500 terminally ill people each year.
Novotel, Willsow Books and De Montfort University are the latest businesses to jump on board.
